The Artist's Apprentice - Drawing 101 Summer Camp

Long Meadow Elementary School, 450 Allston Dr, Rochester Hills, MI 48309, USARegister for this camp here! So you like to draw, but you want to get better at it? Okay, let's make that happen! Students will be working on exercises involving negative space, value shading, portraits, contour lines, and perspective. These basics will help to build a strong foundation for an understanding of how to improve artwork and make it go beyond the ordinary and reach a new level of excellence, truly impressive! We engage in 2 or 3 projects daily with an outdoor 'en plein air' experiences as well. Â
New this year! Art kids will utilize embossing tools and white highlighter pen in a technique to enhance the drawing of animal fur. We will work primarily in graphite, and if time permits, students can add color with the medium of their choice. A Gallery Show of our students' artwork will be extended to families at the end of class on the final day! Taught by Artist/Instructor Pamela Palmer B.F.A., Owner/Entrepreneur of The Artist's Apprentice.Â
Ages 7 & up (As always, siblings of any age are always welcome to register.)Â

The Artist's Apprentice - Kids' Sculpture Camp

Long Meadow Elementary School, 450 Allston Dr, Rochester Hills, MI 48309, USARegister here for this summer camp!Let's spend these sunny afternoon's creating fun sculpture! We will be making an animal out of self-drying clay including an array of embellishments, reminiscent of artist Niki de Saint Phalle, as well as flora design out of other pliable medium for our modeling portion of the program. Kids will make characters, out of Model Magic. (All carving tools are kids-friendly.) Â Some of our pieces, including pottery, will be adorned with painted designs first accomplished in colored drawings to achieve the best motif. These, along with other fabrications will culminate in a 'Viewing of Creations' of our students' artwork that will be extended to families on the last day of camp. Don't miss this fun experience! The Artist's Apprentice - Fashion Extravaganza Camp

Renaissance High School, 6558 Waldon Rd, Village of Clarkston, MI 48346, USARegister for this camp here! Do you have a Passion for Fashion? Let’s hit the runway with a flashy frenzy! This drawing camp will launch you on your way to expressing ideas in a way that sets them apart with professional appeal! We will be learning about body structure and balance of movement as we creatively express these concepts. Our young visionaries will be exploring various ways to set forth their innovative intentions by designing outfits in numerous sketches using ink washes with graphite, colored pencils, and markers. Other projects will include a charming paper sculpture, using specialty white papers on black card stock, and creating faerie gowns from nature elements that we scavenge we gather from an outdoor excursion. A fun use of tissue paper and watercolors will culminate in a large-scale project. This is a great opportunity to utilize that creative mind of yours, so let’s start making those gorgeous garments! 'A Fashion Debut' will be extended to families on the final day of this unique summer camp. 7& up (As always Siblings of any age may register.)

The Artist's Apprentice - Printmaking Summer Camp

Long Meadow Elementary School, 450 Allston Dr, Rochester Hills, MI 48309, USARegister here for this summer camp!Rubber block printing of animals impressed upon mulberry paper and citrous fruit stampings upon rice paper for a fine backdrop of exotic birds, this camp is sure to please all the young artists amongst us! Rubbing will be used to embellished some of out pieces. Kids will be using brayer rollers and printer's ink to create a multi colored sunset silhouetted behind repeating trees in a sectional of their choosing.

The Artist's Apprentice Treasures Under the Sea Summer Camp

Our young artists will be exploring lots of fun sea creatures, like sea horses & jellyfish and animals like penguins and narwhals who frolic amongst them! Sea turtles, dolphins and whales alike will come to life by means of paintings, Model Magic sculptures and drawings. Kids will learn drawing techniques in colored pencil, chalk & oil pastels. Gallery Show that will be extended to families following class on the final day! Let's try new things and make fun art! This is the premise for this new art camp where the artwork we accomplish will be a culmination of thought and design. An exciting exploratory effort certain to bring joy to our young artists! Kids will be using a lazy Susan to spin off beautiful paintings, using silly string to make the only kind of negative impression that is fun for everyone, and creating a colorful, wire stocking sculpture! These, among other avant garde explorations, will culminate in A Gallery Show of our students' artwork that will be extended to families at the end of class on the final day. The Artist's Apprentice - The Colorful ART Camp

Fenton Culture and Community CenterRegister here for this summer camp!Do we love color? Yes we do! .Let's get out our ROY-G-BIV (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet) colors and attempt the challenging task of learning how to paint a rainbow, one that looks real as it is seen in nature. Outdoor activities include making a rainbow 'bubble snake' that will be used as a colorful backdrop for the most brilliant rainbow anime characters! Kids will be working on landscapes and colorful animals like rainbow fish, chameleons, peacocks, iridescent beetle bugs, and fancy roosters. Isn't there something splendid about a prism?! We will be learning about the fracturing of light in another fun outdoor activity! Colored pencils will be used, including shimmer colors, chalk pastels, paper quilling and paint. Experimental practices will be utilized like beautiful ink applications. You will be impressed with our colorful art that will be presented in A Gallery Show following class on the final day!
