 Puppet Lab: Build It, Bring It to Life!

In this imaginative, hands-on camp, young artists will design and create their own original puppets—then bring them to life on stage!

Camp Highlights

🎭 Custom Puppet-Making
Students will create multiple puppet styles, including:

• Sock puppets (lots of bling here!)

• Stick puppets (an aquatic drawing venture… Shark alert!)

• Hand puppets (includes a bit of sculpture)

• Shadow puppets (kids will use flashlights for shadow theater)

✏️ Character Design & Story Building
Kids will invent unique characters, develop personalities, and create simple backstories. Each child will make a “Puppet Portfolio” to take home, including sketches and scripts!

🎨 Stage & Set Design
Participants will build mini stages and paint backdrops for their performances.

📝 Script Writing & Rehearsal
Working solo or in small groups, students will write short scripts and practice timing, voices, and movement.

🌟 Live Puppet Show for Families
The camp ends with a delightful group performance where students present their puppet plays to families.

Ins & Outs of Mega Color Weaving – A Mini Camp

The results are a colorful pop of interest, and the process is truly mesmerizing!

Weaving in elementary school enhances fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness through precise, repetitive “over–under” motions using materials like yarn and paper. It fosters patience, builds confidence through tangible finished projects, and encourages creativity and problem-solving. This tactile, cross-midline activity also introduces early math concepts such as patterns and sequencing.

Imagine—all this good stuff and it’s pretty fun and fabulous! Our textile art adventures will even include making handmade pom-poms.

Students will be involved in learning about fractals in nature and creating beautiful artwork using inks on watercolor paper to represent this phenomenon. We will also be adapting our acrylic paintings using the golden ratio as our guide and talk about the Fibonacci sequence. Let's also learn about patterns with A tessellation project! So, is this a math class? Of course not. :) We're just here to have fun and make our best art! (But if the kids learn something new in the meantime, let's not stop them. ;)

Kids love comics! But do they learn anything? As an art educator of many years and hundreds of students, I can certainly say with confidence that the answer is a resounding yes!  It develops crucial skills such as creative thinking, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and artistic expression. Cartooning also boosts confidence by offering a less intimidating way for children to practice drawing and learn artistic principles, like simplifying elements, understanding line and shape, and constructing figures. We will be working with both Manga & Marvel comics. Sign up today and come join the fun! Do​ your kiddo​s love to paint? Great! Let's get these ​creative kids started​ with cute animals and beautiful flowers! Students participating in this series will be learning skill-improving techniques in acrylics and watercolor painting. 
Did you know that integrating art to a child's curriculum raises scores in core subjects! It increases cognitive development​ and boosts long-term memory through visual and tactile engagement​.​ ​Our young artist's will be engaged in three creative projects aimed with individual interests in mind as we embark on understanding color, composition and value, including tint and shade awareness.​ Join us for our Gallery Show ​that will be presented to families ​at 5:10pm on the final day. A short break will be enjoyed in the playscape, ​so please wear or bring socks.

So sweet, so cute! We just want to eat them up, but lets create them instead! These lovable squishmellow characters will be the focus of this multi-media series, where kids will explore many avenues of the art world. From printmaking on rice paper, painting in brilliant shimmer colors, and sculpting with model magic clay, your kiddo will be engaged in a whirl wind of imaginative projects and 3D visual references. One-to-one guidance will ensure that even the most timid artist will shine with confidence as they present their artwork in a Gallery Show, extended to parents on the last day of class. Note: These classes are an hour and a half long. Please arrive 15 minutes earlier on the final day for a prideful exhibition of our 'viewing of creations'!

Does your child love working with their hands?

In this engaging art series, students will explore the fundamentals of sculpture using self-drying clay,  Plasticine and Model Magic. Through guided instruction, kids will learn to use modeling tools and calipers while creating imaginative pottery with bead and glass embellishment. Hand-built sculptures of their choice, be it Pokemon, mine-craft, axolotl, the sky's the limit! Along the way, they’ll build important art skills such as shaping, carving, and adding texture. 
Kids will develop:
• Fine motor skills and hand strength
• Spatial reasoning and 3-D design skills
• Patience and creative problem solving
If time permits, we’ll even add a touch of shimmer paint to bring our creations to life!
Expect a little mess and a lot of creativity—please wear clothes that are not precious.
Families are invited to join us on the final day for a Clay Creations Gallery Showcase at 7:40 on the last day of classes.
