  • Gobble! Gobble! Workshop

    Harvey-Swanson Elementary School, 209 Varsity Dr, Ortonville, MI 48462, USA

    It's almost turkey time! Kids will learn a skill called Bauernmalereia traditional form of folk art originating from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. First we'll practice by painting a turkey, to show off fanciful feathers. Then we will work on an actual pumpkin, painting it white or black and then painting flowers, vines and leaves with a brush of loaded colors. It will be so beautiful you will want keep it as a nice centerpiece for the Thanksgiving table! A Gallery Show will be presented to families following class on the final day. By artist/instructor Pamela Palmer B.F.A. owner entrepreneur of The Artist's Apprentice. Please wear clothes that are not precious

  • The Artist's Apprentice - Manga Cartooning Fun

    Young artist's in these classes share a common interest in Manga! Drawing these big-eyed characters, (with attitudes to match) will be the main focus of our drawings as we navigate the ins & outs of proportion. We will focus on storyboards with the insertion of transformation Chibis. As we step into the Japanese culture of Kawaii, (affectionate, cute, adorable), we will create interesting bubble backgrounds using food coloring and soap solutions.  A Gallery Show will be presented to families following class on the final day. By artist/instructor Pamela Palmer B.F.A. owner/entrepreneur of The Artist's Apprentice. Please wear clothes that are not precious.

    Does your kiddos love to paint? Great! Let's get these young artist started! Students participating in this series will be learning skill-improving techniques in acrylics and watercolor painting. We will be engaged in three creative project aimed with individual interests in mind as we embark on understanding color, composition and value, including tint and shade awareness.     Let’s tap into the fresh, avant-garde, creativity of the young artists within our midst!  We will be working with all sorts of color combinations to enhance our fantastical beings, so learning about primary, secondary and tertiary colors will be fun with a rewarding outcomes. Monochromatic kitten & puppy or bunny will be set to flight as we add glorious butterfly, bat and bird wings to these wee beasties.   • bThe Artist's Apprentice - More Art Please!

    Let's explore all things art! We will take paint brushes in hand to engage the contemporary works of Andrew Haslen a styles we will strive to emulate in our animal inspired, acrylic paintings. Students will be working with pulled string art and Manga cartoons as well! A wide range of art principles will be explored, including value, perspective, color theory and composition. We will try our hand at papier-mâché bas reliefs featuring birds! This is a FUN, fine art learning experience you won't want to miss!   • Fa La La La Love This Fun Art Class!

     Fa La La Let's Draw & Paint! Young art lovers will be introduced to artists who whose talents express beautiful artwork of the holiday season! They will choose an artist to emulate, creating a lovely painting in the process. Beginning with a simple chalk drawing, proceeding to paint medium, students will receive individual guidance along the way to help with their individual artwork. A snowy scene of a colorful Christmas trees a lit with bright bulbs, a festive reindeer or a beautiful Hanukkah menorah all a glow with warmth on a winter's night are just a few of choices . Kid's will have plenty of ideas to select from including playful animals! Visual references will be used as a guidance. A Gallery Show of the students' work will be extended to families at the end of the final class, with sweet treats for all!
