 The Artist’s Apprentice: Treasures Under the Sea

A creative summer art camp for curious young artists.

Calling all axolotl fans and ocean explorers—let’s dive under the sea! In this imaginative week-long art camp, young artists will explore the magical world beneath the waves while creating artwork inspired by fascinating sea creatures and icy-water friends alike.

Students will bring to life:

• Seahorses, jellyfish, sea turtles, dolphins, and whales

• Playful penguins and mysterious narwhals

• And yes… everyone’s favorite axolotl!

Using a variety of media, campers will create:

• Paintings

• Model Magic sculptures

• Drawings using colored pencil, chalk pastel, and oil pastel

Children will learn new techniques, observation skills, and creative problem-solving, all within a small class setting with individual attention. Each day balances focused art time with short movement breaks to keep kids energized and engaged.

✨ Families are invited to a special Gallery Show on the final day to celebrate each child’s artwork and creative growth.

Kids explore the magic of color while creating dazzling rainbow animals, shimmering insects, and glowing landscapes using exciting art techniques.

We will learn about the fracturing of light through a fun outdoor prism activity and explore the vibrant colors of ROY-G-BIV. Young artists will take on the exciting challenge of painting a rainbow that looks just like one seen in nature.

Throughout the week, students will create colorful artworks inspired by animals such as rainbow fish, chameleons, peacocks, fancy roosters, and iridescent beetle bugs. (Live specimens will be brought in for up-close observation!)

Artists will experiment with shimmering colored pencils, vibrant chalk pastels, paper quilling, acrylic paints, and magical ink techniques to create spectacular rainbow-themed artwork. We’ll even add some brilliant rainbow anime characters to the mix!

Using a variety of media, campers will create:

• Paintings

• Model Magic sculptures

• Drawings using colored pencil, chalk pastel, and oil pastel

Children will learn new techniques, observation skills, and creative problem-solving, all within a small class setting with individual attention. Each day balances focused art time with short outdoor breaks to keep kids energized and engaged.

✨ Families are invited to a special Gallery Show on the final day to celebrate each child’s artwork and creative growth. (Please arrive at 11:55 on Friday for the viewing of creations.)

Create • Explore • Imagine

Get ready to make something beautiful! In this nature-inspired art camp, science and art go hand in hand as young artists observe, imagine, and create. Campers will explore animals past and present—from iridescent Amazon insects to dinosaurs of long ago—using paint, drawing materials, and clay.

Kids will experiment with new art techniques to bring their animal artwork to life. And if we don’t know the exact color? We’ll invent it! The sky’s the limit as imaginations soar in this playful, confidence-building creative adventure.

The Artist’s Apprentice: Treasures Under the Sea

A creative summer art camp for curious young artists.

Calling all axolotl fans and ocean explorers—let’s dive under the sea! In this imaginative week-long art camp, young artists will explore the magical world beneath the waves while creating artwork inspired by fascinating sea creatures and icy-water friends alike.

Students will bring to life:

• Seahorses, jellyfish, sea turtles, dolphins, and whales

In this imaginative, hands-on camp, young artists will design and create their own original puppets—then bring them to life on stage!

Camp Highlights

🎭 Custom Puppet-Making
Students will create multiple puppet styles, including:

• Sock puppets (lots of bling here!)

• Stick puppets (an aquatic drawing venture… Shark alert!)

• Hand puppets (includes a bit of sculpture)

• Shadow puppets (kids will use flashlights for shadow theater)

✏️ Character Design & Story Building
Kids will invent unique characters, develop personalities, and create simple backstories. Each child will make a “Puppet Portfolio” to take home, including sketches and scripts!

🎨 Stage & Set Design
Participants will build mini stages and paint backdrops for their performances.

📝 Script Writing & Rehearsal
Working solo or in small groups, students will write short scripts and practice timing, voices, and movement.

🌟 Live Puppet Show for Families
The camp ends with a delightful group performance where students present their puppet plays to families.

Ins & Outs of Mega Color Weaving – A Mini Camp

The results are a colorful pop of interest, and the process is truly mesmerizing!

Weaving in elementary school enhances fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness through precise, repetitive “over–under” motions using materials like yarn and paper. It fosters patience, builds confidence through tangible finished projects, and encourages creativity and problem-solving. This tactile, cross-midline activity also introduces early math concepts such as patterns and sequencing.

Imagine—all this good stuff and it’s pretty fun and fabulous! Our textile art adventures will even include making handmade pom-poms.
